It's estimated one in four people in New Zealand will experience anxiety in their lifetime. Of those many thousands of people, just 30 per cent of cases will be diagnosed and only five per cent will seek help. Auckland's Phobic Trust and Wellington Anxiety Specialists believe too many people are suffering in silence. Severe anxiety may cause people to drop out of the workforce, turn to drugs and alcohol, and in some cases can be so terrifying, people may refuse to leave the safety of their home.
